With the battle at the top of Group G going to the wire, only bragging rights were on offer for the bottom two sides in Chisinau.

Moldova struggled to break down San Marino in a quiet first half, although the floodgates opened just 10 minutes after half-time.

Alexandru Antoniuc caused havoc in the box and Viorel Frunza capitalised, turning to fire under San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini.

Moldova doubled their advantage in the 59th minute after another goal-mouth scramble, allowing Sidorenco to strike home.

The hosts completed the double over San Marino a minute from time, with Sidorenco wrapping up the night with a third.
